The Karnataka Police on Wednesday issued a notice to a woman Sub-Inspector after actor Pavithra Gowda, partner of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, was seen wearing makeup while in police custody.

Pavithra, the prime accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, was taken to her Bengaluru residence for recording details of the crime scene. During her visit, she was seen applying lipstick and makeup and smiling while returning from her residence with the police officials.

The visuals reignited a debate regarding Pavithra Gowda's perceived lack of remorse over the murder of Darshan's fan, Renukaswamy.

Meanwhile, a notice has been issued to SI from the office of the DCP (West) over the negligence and clarification has been sought.

"Pavithra used to stay at her home every night where she had probably kept her makeup bag. The lady PSI used to go there every day in the morning to pick her up and get her to AP Nagar police station. The lady PSI could have observed this and stopped Pavithra from doing that. For this negligence, she has been issued a notice for explanation," DCP (West), Girish said.

Gowda has been named as accused number one in the case, allegedly for being the instigator, while leading Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is accused number two, who allegedly executed the murder.

According to police sources, Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to Pavithra, which enraged Darshan and allegedly led to him plotting and executing the murder. Renukaswamy's body was found near a storm-water drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli here on June 9. He was allegedly tortured to death on June 8.

Darshan and Pavithra as well as 15 others have been arrested in the case and are currently in judicial custody.

According to sources, one of the accused, Raghavendra, who is part of Darshan's fan club in Chitradurga, had brought Renukaswamy to a shed in R R Nagar in Bengaluru on the pretext that Darshan wanted to meet him. It was in this shed that he was allegedly tortured and killed.
