PUNE: Police will challenge in

Supreme Court

the

Bombay high court

's June 25 order directing the release of a Pune builder's 17-year-old son from an

observation home

, reported. The teenager was involved in a fatal Porsche Taycan car crash on May 19, which killed two software engineers from Jabalpur in MP.
"We had on June 26 submitted an application to state govt stating that the HC order needed to be challenged on certain grounds.

Govt gave its approval Saturday to file a special leave petition (SLP) and we will soon file such a plea in SC," Pune ACP (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade said.
HC ordered the teenager's release from the observation home, stating that Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) orders reversing the bail, sending the teenager to an observation home, and further extending his remand there were illegal and passed without jurisdiction.
"Amid the immediate reaction to the accident, the knee-jerk reaction, and the public outcry, the CCL's age was not considered," HC said.
