AGRA: A court in

sentenced 11 members of a family -- across

three generations

life imprisonment

for killing two men in 2018. Eighty-year-old Yashodan Singh, his son Gajendra Singh (54), grandson Sandeep Singh (28) and eight other members of the family were found guilty and convicted, said ADGC Shivendra Chauhan on Tuesday.
Police said the crime took place at Balna under Junction limits of Hathras district on June 9, 2018, when brothers Pratap Singh and Netrapal Singh (in their 50s) were shot dead by "miscreants" of the same village.

The victims' third brother, Rajkumar Singh, sustained a bullet injury in the attack and was a key witness in the case.
Following a complaint by the victims' family, a case of murder was registered against several members of a single family at Junction police station. Besides Yashodan, Gajendra and Sandeep, the others identified by police in the FIR were Rajan Singh, Rajendra Singh, Harendra Singh, Pushpendra Singh, Shailendra Singh, Ajay Singh, Sarvendra Singh and Ashok Singh. All the accused were subsequently arrested and sent to jail.
Weeks later, police filed a chargesheet before court under IPC sections 302 (murder), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting or armed with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The ADGC added: "After hearing both sides, examining evidence and witnesses, the court (one) of additional district and sessions judge Mahendra Srivastava pronounced life imprisonment along with fines of Rs 55,000 on each of the convicts."
